WIRE BOOTCAMP – Enpowering Women in Energy Sector – 28-30 September
IPPA Partnered with WIRE and Supported the 3 day BOOT CAMP held in Islamabad.
Australia Awards Alumni initiated a WIRE Climate Action campaign and organized a Women in Renewable Energy Bootcamp in Islamabad. WIRE (Women in Renewable Energy) is a concept conceived on the basis of the experience of hiring Female Resource for our Renewable Energy projects. WIRE Bootcamp is a captivating and productive initiative tailored to address the multi-faceted national concern regarding energy security, climate change, and women empowerment through entrepreneurship implementing the SDG Goals 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, and 13 to achieve Goal 1. WIRE Bootcamp is intended for the aspiring green enthusiasts and cultivates the idea of engaging women in the technical aura of the energy sector to address the energy security & climate action in Pakistan. This Bootcamp aims at imparting vision and builds an awareness, understanding, and confidence that women engagement in green energy systems, eco-friendly spheres, and environmental protection is a niche yet unexplored at large.
WIRE invited applications for the Bootcamp on 1st September 2018 and closed on 15th September 2018 and received over 220 applications from all over Pakistan by the aspiring females. A ten-membered selection committee of experts and mentors from the sector evaluated and selected 24 outstanding applications for the Bootcamp.
The Bootcamp provided opportunities for Networking and dialogue with field experts and inspirational mentors from the energy and environment sector. Interactive sessions, activities, panel discussions, case studies, all generated motivational backbone for the young women to tackle the greater challenge of Climate Action and Renewable Energy Leadership in Pakistan.
