ISLAMABAD: Briefing Prime Minister Nasir-ul-Mulk on the water and hydropower projects in the country, Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) Chairman Muzammil Hussain said on Monday that the construction work on Diamer-Basha and Mohmand dams will begin during the current fiscal year.

Mr Mulk was informed that the Daimer-Basha dam is located on Indus River, about 315km upstream of Tarbela dam, 165km downstream of Gilgit and 40km downstream of Chilas. The dam has a gross water storage capacity of 8.1 million acre feet of water with power generation capacity of 4500MW.
