PIAF rejects prolonged power cuts
LAHORE: The Pakistan Industrial and Traders Association Front (PIAF) has rejected the government’s decision of 10-hour a day load shedding during Ramazan and said the decision would destroy the entire industrial sector.
Speaking at a meeting of industrialists’ delegation here on Thursday, PIAF Chairman Irfan Iqbal Sheikh said that 24-hour uninterrupted supply of electricity is a must for eradication of unemployment, improvement in production capacity and overall industrial development. The export industry needs 85MW of electricity to remain operational during the month of Ramazan, he said. The industry will be forced to close one shift due to load shedding that would result in unemployment, he added.
