Protest threatened over delay in power project
MANSEHRA: The local residents on Wednesday warned that they would stage a protest on the arrival of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif here on May 6 if work on of the Garhi Habibullah grid station doesn’t begin by then.
“Federal religious affairs minister Sardar Yousuf had performed the groundbreaking for the Garhi Habibullah grid station eight months ago but ironically, work on it has yet to begin,” district councillor Jahangir Naeem Khan told a gathering in Garhi Habibullah here.
The traders, who were also in attendance, announced that they would observe a shutter-down strike on May 6.
Councillor Naseem claimed that the rumours were doing the rounds about the relocation of the grid station.
