ISLAMABAD: The government is all set to impose new surcharge of 70 paisa per unit on all categories of Disco consumers aimed at servicing of Rs 80 billion debt to be taken by Power Holding (Private) Limited (PHPL) from commercial banks, well informed sources told Business Recorder.

According to Power Division, the ECC last year had approved the proposal for re-financing of syndicated term finance facilities aggregating to Rs.80 billion for the purpose of rolling over existing facilities of (i) Rs.15.00 billion, (ii) Rs.40.00 billion and (iii) Rs.25.00 billion respectively.
