Ministry fails to manage unscheduled loadshedding
According to National Power Control Centre (NPCC), an organisation which allocates quota to Discos, electricity demand crossed 16,000MW against generation of 10000MW as a result of which shortfall recorded is above 6,000, which translates into 12 hour loadshedding across Pakistan but if cities are facing eight hours outages the situation in rural areas is automatically far worse.
Ministry of Water and Power has disconnected the electricity position board installed by the USAID fearing public anger as actual supply position is known.
Ministry of Finance has also expressed concern over the current power supply situation and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar recently pointed out that the Finance Ministry recently released Rs 50 billion for the power sector, and other Ministries should fulfil their responsibilities. Water and Power Ministry was pursuing Finance Ministry to release advance subsidy and adjust it in budget 2017-18.
